Shanta leaves to cherish her memory: her life partner, Talib Cherry children, J’yawn, Kyla, Zuri, and Hasan siblings, Desmond Gidden of Killeen, TX, Niya Freeman (Anthony) of Atlanta, GA, Tanisha McGee of Ft. Shanta is now resting with her father, Ernest “Geno” Gibson and mother, Johnnie Louise Gidden. Shanta's fashion-forward style was a reflection of her creative spirit, setting her apart from others and making her truly a special ONE-of-a-kind person. Her vivacious personality and unwavering love for her kids endeared her to all who knew her. Shanta was a friend to everyone, the life of every party, and a beloved mother to her children, J’yawn, Zuri, Hasan, and Kyla (bonus daughter). In 2021, she won the prestigious award for “Best Boutique” at the Kansas City People’s Choice Awards. Some of Shanta's impressive achievements included being featured in the Kansas City Star for the “Curves and Confidence” fashion show where she was able to showcase her talent as a stylist. Her desire was to be an organ donor and her selfless act saved the lives of a 56-year-old woman in the Midwest and a 58-year-old woman in North Central United States. Shanta was always lending a helping hand to others even after her transition. She participated in Breast Cancer walks in support of her mother, Johnnie and continued after her passing. Shanta not only devoted her time into her business, but she made sure she always supported other vendors and boutiques. She always tried to make her Effortlessly Fly brand known by participating in vendor events, fashion shows, and anything else she could get her hands into. In addition to her career, Shanta was deeply committed to her community. Professionally, Shanta thrived as a phlebotomist and entrepreneur, owning the thriving business, "Effortlessly Fly Boutique". ![]() Her educational journey took her through Campbell High in Smyrna, GA, and she proudly graduated from Ruskin High School in Kansas City, MO. Shanta's life was marked by remarkable achievements and a passionate love for fashion. She transitioned peacefully on September 3, 2023, at Truman Hospital surrounded by family and friends.
